My Bio
I'm EcologyWizard. I don't really have a nickname--just call me "that one with the crazy things in jars." That's basically what I do now, having proved myself inept at drawing, only moderately successful at painting, and slightly-more-competent at sculpture.

I like sci-fi, fantasy, cosmic horror, and assorted other works of great literature. I also enjoy knitting, observing animals, and writing.

I would be flattered if you felt like sharing my work elsewhere on the Internet! Just PLEASE don't sell it, and please DO give me credit and link back to me (if possible). Also, let me know, will you?

Other Interests
Doctor Who, Monty Python, Star Trek, animals of all sorts, particularly mythical ones.

Varathane

So, the legends are true: Varathane makes for a far, far superior sealant to anything I've used before. It's astounding: my tiny animal sculptures are shiny (but not so shiny as to mask the textures I've given them), and my fetuses glisten more smoothly than I could have imagined. Their colors remain vibrantly clear. And the tin boxes! It's like a miracle––when I touch the surface, there are no awkward lumps or drips of sealant. It's like touching enamel, or stained glass. Basically, I am in awe. Plus, the smallest container contains more than three times as much as the Sculpey sealant container––by volume, it's far cheaper. There is only on

Remember my difficulties with the painted tins? Well, I was messing around with acrylics earlier today and realized how I could fix my two main problems. I could avoid the tins sticking shut by simply not painting the metal around the seal between the top and bottom of the tin. My color scheme would therefore be somewhat limited to whatever color the tin had been painted originally, but that seemed a small price to pay. Then there was the issue of the cracking paint underneath the sealant. I'd noticed this occurring on several other of my smaller painted sculptures, seemingly at random. Today, however, I finally figured it out: something in

I realized yesterday that if all my plans fell through tomorrow, I could at least do a little something by selling the vast collection of small clay monsters I've sculpted over the last year or two. Then I realized that it would be really awesome if I had some sort of charming box or container to ship them in. Then I realized that I had a whole lot of tins and small boxes that used to contain mints still sitting in my bottom drawer, a relic of when I was bound and determined to see how many I could collect. Huzzah! A new project! So I tried painting one. It looked, if I do say so myself, fantastic. Black on white swirled designs, with a big
